Winwood is a rendition of the font used on Steve Winwoodﾕs ﾒRoll With Itﾓ concert tour poster. It is reminiscent of cracked, crumbly, worn-out stone. Abundant holes, nooks and crannies fill the black expanse of this truly holey font. It is not quite as complex as the original for practical reasons (such as printer memory limitations), but it is both complex enough to inspire awe and simple enough so that it will not befuddle higher end output devices. Winwood is an upper-case only font with numbers and some accent and punctuation characters.

Winwood is a True Typeｪ and an Adobeｪ Postscriptｪ Type One font that was created with Adobe SuperPaint 3.5.1, Macromedia Freehand 5.5, and Macromedia Fontographer 4.1.3. All aspects of the actual outlining, rendering, spacing and kerning were performed in Fontographer. The font was tested using Microsoft Word 5.1a and Adobe Pagemaker 6.0.1.

This font is a part of a shareware font package distributed by WUNN-WAY Software called Everymanﾕs Font Collection. Some of the fonts from this collection, like Winwood Condensed are available individually. We ask each user, that continues to use the font after 30 days, to contribute a shareware fee of $3. for one font (or font family), $5. for two (or font families, etc.), $8. for three or $10 for five. We think this is a reasonable fee for a work of art. This fee will be used to help kids in the schools. At my former high school, the student-run newspaper, The Milwaukian, has had a shrinking budget problem every year. This group of journalists go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that there will always be a student newspaper available at MHS by selling ads and fund raising. They go to extraordinary lengths to publish each month because they have a passion and a desire to survive. Beyond that, The Milwaukian is a member of the National Journalism Education Societyﾕs hall of fame. That is a honor and an important distinction, because it means that this student publication is one of the best in the nation. Above all of this, the journalism program at the high school teaches these future wordsmiths the importance of integrity and the need for competent reporters.
